Celebrants now conduct up to 95 per cent of funeral services in some areas of the UK and celebrants are often called upon to conduct marriage ceremonies as couples want more choice when it comes to the words spoken and the venue they choose. The official section of the marriage is binding by law and has to be conducted by a registrar. As a celebrant I can conduct either semi, non-religious or spiritual ceremonies and spend time with my clients agreeing bespoke services personal to the individual. This is also the same with other ceremonies such as naming or vow renewals. There has to be an acceptance that, as a society, the way we view such ceremonies and services, is changing and tradition has, in some areas, given way to alternatives and that is what I, as a celebrant, will offer you. In addition I also offer pet ash scattering services, our pets are an integral part of our family, we recognise their birthdays and to an extent ‘humanise’ them. They are always pleased to see us, support us through our difficult times and bring us great joy with their individual personalities. I believe that it is also important to also treat them with the same love and respect at their passing. As a member of the professional body, the Association of Independent Celebrants, I am one of many thousands of celebrants in the UK today.
