Award Winning Midlands based EAP Founder Speaks Out on BBC Radio 4

The Listening Centre’s founder, Sharon McCormick, was invited to speak on BBC Radio 4’s programme, Investigating Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs). The broadcast explored whether EAPs are truly delivering value to employers and their staff, highlighting unethical practices in parts of the industry.

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) the UK’s leading counselling membership body, was asked by the BBC to recommend an EAP in the UK with the highest integrity. The Listening Centre were honoured that they signposted the BBC to them, recognising the Midlands-based EAP as a standout example of ethical and effective service for companies who want the best services for their staff.

During the programme, Sharon shared how The Listening Centre does business differently. “Your employees’ wellbeing isn’t just a box-ticking exercise,” Sharon explained. “It’s about providing face-to-face counselling and personalised support—not quick phone calls or generic self-help resources.”

Since the programme aired, The Listening Centre has received enquiries from companies seeking an EAP provider or looking to switch due to dissatisfaction with their current provision. This recognition underscores The Listening Centre’s commitment to delivering meaningful, compassionate well-being interventions that truly support employees’ well-being via their bespoke package of services.
